RENAULT 4 CV - Lot 68
RENAULT 4 CV Designed during the Occupation, the "4CV" was presented at the 1946 Paris Motor Show. A radical departure from the manufacturer's pre-war production, it took the form of a small 4-door sedan, equipped with a brand-new small 750 cm3 in-line 4-cylinder engine and three-speed gearbox. Throughout its career, which lasted until 1961, it received only minor technical and cosmetic alterations. In 1949, it was offered in a more luxurious "découvrable" version, of which only around 9500 were produced until 1956. As for the "normal" sedan, it was the first Renault to exceed one million units produced, to be precise 1,105,000 cars. Despite its small size and modest engine, it scored numerous sporting successes in its class, including the famous "24 Heures du Mans". It also served as the basis for a new brand of French sports cars: the Alpine A 106. The model on offer has been fully restored and runs extremely well. It's a rare opportunity to acquire a popular car that played a major role in motorizing post-war France, and which immediately arouses sympathy. This vehicle was appraised as a veteran in 2020.
