MERCEDES 170 V - Lot 44
MERCEDES 170 V Exhibited at the 1936 Berlin Motor Show, the 170 V, with its 38 hp 1.7-liter in-line 4-cylinder engine (internal code W 136), appeared very conventional. One of the main advantages of this model is the wide variety of body styles on offer: 2-door, 4-door, 2- or 4-seat cabriolet, roadster, as well as various van shapes. Almost 70,000 examples were produced up to 1941, making it the most mass-produced pre-war Mercedes. After the war, in 1946, production resumed, virtually unchanged except for the all-steel body, no longer based on a wooden frame. Its career lasted until 1952. The model on offer is a veteran with 04177 km on the clock. An emblematic 1934 Open roof sedan, combining German sobriety and old-world refinement. Pre-war elegance, timeless charm. This car has been fully restored and is in excellent mechanical and body condition. Mercedes' flagship model before the Second World War, the 170 V captured the hearts of motorists with its robustness and classic styling. The 1.7 L, 4-cylinder, side-valve engine, renowned for its reliability, delivers modest but pleasing power. 4-speed manual transmission, rear-wheel drive, smooth, quiet ride, ideal for retro cruising. Rigid chassis, leaf spring suspension, cable braking, offering an authentic driving experience full of charm.
