Daimler V8 2.5l - Lot 46
Daimler V8 2.5l With the old English brand on its last legs, Jaguar bought it in 1960. The 2.5-l V8 was the first new model to come out since the takeover. Jaguar takes over the bodywork of its MK2s and equips it with the very good little V8 from Daimler, much lighter than its own 6-cylinder XK, from the "baroque" Dart roadster or SP 250 (affectionately called the grouper). Inside, the finishes are more upmarket. On the outside, the XK can be identified by its fluted chrome-plated brass grille, the top of which is more elaborate than on the Jaguar MK2. In fact, this will be the exterior distinguishing feature of all future Daimlers born during the Jaguar era. It was fitted exclusively with a 3-speed automatic gearbox until 1967, when the mechanical gearbox plus overdrive option was introduced. Continuing until 1969, just over 17,000 units were produced. The model presented for sale features the enviable 4-speed mechanical gearbox with overdrive. It is particularly well cared for. The woodwork and leathers are very beautiful. It has only had three owners. It's a pleasure to be behind the wheel of this luxurious limousine. It was appraised as a veteran in March 2024. It has 6,000 km on the clock.
