MG RV8 1994 RHD Swiss registration Chassis... - Lot 31 - Arteal
MG RV8 1994 RHD Swiss registration Chassis number SAR RAW BMB MG00 0824 Displacement 3940 cm3 Power 140 kW 190 HP First registration 01.09.1994 Last expertise 03.2022 Mileage 41 800 km (odometer reading) In 1993, the BLMC conglomerate (British Layland Motor Corporation) is in a bad way. Why not resurrect a bestseller of the 60's, the MGB (more than 500 000 units produced)? The idea takes shape by using the platform of the MGB convertible, born in 1962 under the pencil of Don Hayter. Initially designed to use as many elements as possible from the "B" model, the RV8 finally retained only 5%. Pure product of the Rover team who wanted to relaunch the MG brand to the general public, it replaces the old 4-cylinder of the "B" by the all-aluminium V8 of Buick origin, that is to say the one of the Range Rover 3.9 liters of the 190 HP. Important exterior alterations to modernize it with bumpers painted in the color of the body (thus avoiding the hideous bumpers of the previous models imposed by the American market), wood and leather in profusion inside: it is the MG RV8! Its production was stopped in 1995 after only 2000 examples were produced, 1660 of which were delivered to Japan where MG enthusiasts are numerous. Some examples were transformed with left-hand drive. A majority of the vehicles were covered with British Racing Green although many other colors were available. The car offered for sale has been painted in a beautiful metallic blue with which its hood, also blue, matches perfectly. The beige leather, the carpets and the wood are in very good condition. The car, a duly appraised Swiss example, is equipped with very nice spoked rims, which will allow the buyer to drive on any road in a rare little machine, with a very powerful engine, with an incomparable British charm.
