*Chrysler Windsor Sedan 1947 German road permit Chassis number 70611829 Displacement 4108 cm3 Power 88 kW First registration 11.11.1947 Last expertise : Vehicle which was in Switzerland, then exported, and today eligible for registration in Switzerland Mileage : 41504 km With the reopening of the car factories at the end of the conflict in the last months of 1945, the manufacturers all resume the production of the 1942 models, very little modified. This is the case of the Chrysler Windsor, the luxury brand of the Chrysler group, the second level of finish in this range. Like the majority of American cars in this category, this model has a separate chassis and is equipped with a 4.1-liter in-line 6-cylinder engine with approximately 115 HP and a mechanical or automatic transmission. It is available in two wheelbases of respectively 3.08 meters and 3.54 meters long. Several bodies are listed in the catalog: 4-door limousine, 6 or 8 seats, Station Wagon, 2-door coupe and luxury convertible. During its three years of production, more than 300,000 units of this series were produced, all versions and finishes included. In 1949, the model will receive a new bodywork, to follow the new fashion of the line known as "pontoon". The model presented in its Windsor designation (degree of finishing) is "in its juice" but rolling. It is a very good basis for restoration, even if one would almost want to leave the whole thing intact, so much it testifies of an era. Indeed, the engine and the gearbox work well. It has new brake cylinders at the rear. The inline 6-cylinder engine is coupled to a fluid drive gearbox. The front doors give it an undeniable class as well as easy access to the very large and comfortable interior with that old-fashioned charm of the immediate post-war era and the American dream. The paintwork bears the scars of its long existence but forms a coherent whole with the rest of the vehicle.
