FERRARI 400i 1980 Swiss registration Chassis... - Lot 18 - Arteal
FERRARI 400i 1980 Swiss registration Chassis number F10 1CL 294 75 Displacement 4819 cm3 Power 232kW 315 HP First registration 23.04.1980 Last expertise 15.03.2023 Mileage 32000 km (meter reading) Presented at the Paris Motor Show in autumn 1972, it is the successor of the 365 GT/C 4, with a wheelbase lengthened by 20 cm, which allows it to offer 4 real seats. The line due to Pininfarina is completely new. With its sober lines, this design will allow it to go through the years practically unchanged. The only real visible difference is the change, in 1976, from six to four round lights at the rear of the vehicle, with the introduction of the "400". If the displacement goes from 4.4 to 4.8 liters, the power of 340 HP does not change, for more torque. But the big news is the appearance of the automatic transmission option, a first for Ferrari. This 3-speed gearbox comes from GM. This option attracts many new customers, since until the end of its career, three customers out of four will choose it so equipped. For the 1980 season, it will swap its carburetors for an injection, anti-pollution norms oblige and becomes 400i. Finally, in 1985, it changes again its name to become 412i, with a displacement increased to 4.9 liters. In total, nearly 3'000 cars will be sold (all models combined), and with a production of 17 years, it is one of the Ferrari that will have the longest career. It should be noted that a few vehicles were transformed into convertibles by independent coachbuilders. The presented model has only 32'000 km, and has known only 2 owners. The services have been followed up with supporting invoices. The last service was performed in February 2023. With engine oil change, gearbox, axle, brake fluid, spark plugs, rear calipers revision. Fully original, unrestored car in excellent condition. Exterior in perfect condition with TRX tires, having been driven little. Four other inch rims are delivered with the car The interior is in perfect condition, with leather showing a nice patina. Everything is functional. It is sold with its Ferrari cover and tool kit. The automatic transmission works perfectly and is very smooth. It has been appraised as a veteran in March 2023.
